What it is

A messaging app with no infrastructure

Yuvachat connects nearby phones directly to each other, forming a local mesh. Messages hop from phone to phone until they reach everyone in range β€” built for when normal networks are down, congested, or blocked.

No internet needed

Your phone talks straight to nearby phones over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct β€” never touching the internet or cell towers.

Self-forming mesh

Every phone running the app automatically discovers and connects to others nearby, extending the network's reach.

Multi-hop relay

Messages don't need a direct connection β€” they hop phone to phone across the crowd until they reach everyone.

No accounts, no servers

There's nothing to sign up for and nothing stored centrally. Each device is just its own identity on the mesh.

How it works

Your phone's radios do the work

Yuvachat uses the same Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hardware that connects headphones or casts a screen, to build a temporary local network with everyone else nearby running the app.

1

Discovery

On launch, your phone starts advertising and scanning for other Yuvachat phones over Bluetooth Low Energy.

2

Connection

When two phones find each other, they connect and, when in range, upgrade to Wi-Fi Direct for faster transfer.

3

Flood relay

A sent message passes to every connected phone, which passes it to theirs β€” hopping outward until it reaches everyone, up to 6 hops.

4

Dedup

Each phone remembers messages it has already relayed, so nothing loops endlessly around the mesh.

Get started

Join the mesh in under a minute

No sign-up, no setup wizard β€” just install and open.

1. Install the app

Download and install Yuvachat on your phone.

2. Grant permissions

Allow Bluetooth and nearby-device access β€” that's what lets your phone find and talk to others directly.

3. Open it near others

Yuvachat starts finding nearby phones automatically β€” the header shows how many peers you're connected to.

4. Send a message

Your message reaches everyone connected directly to you, and relays outward through the mesh to reach phones further away.

FAQ

Good to know

How far does it reach?

Each hop covers roughly the range of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct β€” tens to a couple hundred meters depending on conditions. The mesh's real reach comes from how many phones are relaying: the more people nearby running the app, the further messages travel.

Does it use my mobile data?

No. Yuvachat never touches cellular data or Wi-Fi internet β€” it only uses direct device-to-device radio connections.

Is it private?

Messages pass through relay phones to reach their destination, similar to how mesh networks generally work. Treat the mesh as a shared local channel rather than a private line.

Does it drain my battery?

Bluetooth scanning and relaying uses more power than an idle phone β€” similar to keeping Bluetooth audio connected continuously.

Stay connected when the network can't

Yuvachat is free, open, and needs nothing but nearby phones to work.
